Tallow Rosemary Shampoo Bar

Product Details

Our buffalo tallow rosemary shampoo bar has a rich and abundant lather that is not regularly seen in a natural product, leaving your hair feeling hydrated and well loved. Tallow is the base of this bar and is accompanied by extra-virgin olive oil, coconut oil, and castor oil. All of these oils deeply nourish the hair, each one bringing something unique to the finished product. Rosemary essential oil is known to improve overall hair strength and promote hair growth. Your hair will not be disappointed with this bar!

Making the switch: Did you know when making the switch from chemical laden commercial shampoo brands to all natural buffalo tallow soap your hair will go through a transition process? When you switch to natural products your hair will respond by over producing sebum. Sebum is the natural oil produced by your scalp's sebaceous glands. It's essential for maintaining healthy hair and scalp and provides moisture, protection, and shine. This transition period usually lasts 2-3 weeks and not everybody is affected. How will you know if you are affected? If you are affected by the transition process your hair will feel waxy or starchy. It may feel as though you didn't properly rinse out your hair and may be difficult to comb through. Be patient, as mentioned, this transition period will only last a few weeks. The following are recommendations to help you get through this transitory period.

1. Apple cider vinegar rinse.

An ACV rinse can help balance your hair's pH level and remove residue. After shampooing, mix three parts water with one part apple cider vinegar and pour it over your hair. Leave for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Do not use if you have colour-treated hair as it could strip away the colour.

2. Baking Soda Rinse (Optional): Before you begin your shampoo bar transition, consider a one-time baking soda rinse to help remove buildup from previous hair products. Mix a couple of teaspoons of baking soda with a pint of water and pour it over your hair, gently massaging it into your scalp. Rinse thoroughly.

Note: This may not be suitable for colour-treated hair.

  1. Don't Over wash: Resist the urge to wash your hair too frequently during the transition. Over washing can strip your scalp of its natural oils and prolong the adjustment period.
  2. Brush or Comb Regularly: Brush or combing your hair at least twice a day distributes your scalp's natural oils, helping to reduce the appearance of greasiness
  3. Essential Oils: For added hair and scalp benefits, add a few drops of essential oils like lavender or rosemary to your ACV rinse.
  4. Patience is Key: Give your hair time to adjust to the new routine. The greasy or waxy feeling will gradually disappear, leaving you with softer, healthier, and more manageable hair.

When you start using natural shampoo and conditioner bars, your scalp might overproduce sebum as it adjusts to the new routine. This is a normal part of the shampoo bar transition and usually subsides within a few weeks.
